Enterprise SEO for telehealth platforms: more patients starting teleconsultations from search, without promising what the Malaysian Medical Council now forbids
I run enterprise SEO for Malaysian telehealth and digital health platforms. Trust pages, clinician profiles and service pages for consultation, prescription, mental health and delivery, each one inside the rules that apply to the clinician behind it.
By Dr. Faiz Azizan, PhD in Business Management, 12+ years in SEO. Last updated 2026-10-22.
One platform holds the consultation search, and the rest is press on risk
I searched online doctor consultation malaysia on 22 October 2026 and found nine results. Six were pages on one platform's own site and three were press pieces on risk and regulation. No second platform, clinic group or hospital appeared. A patient who trusts the first name never meets yours.

One regulatory decision can make half your landing pages wrong
In November 2025 the Malaysian Medical Association publicly backed the Malaysian Medical Council's decision to prohibit medical certificates after teleconsultations. People still search to buy a certificate online, and a page that answers with a promise is exposed.

Patients check trust by name before your content can build it
Searches for doctor on call malaysia are completed with legit, review and delivery time. Patients check whether a platform is real before they use it, and the pages that answer are usually someone else's, from forums to press.

Why do one platform's pages win online doctor consultation searches?
It owns pages for the head term, how it works, plans and clinicians, and nobody else does. People add app and see doctor online. A second platform can compete with pages on who the clinicians are, what a teleconsultation can assess and what needs a visit, written plainly.
How should a platform answer is it legit searches?
With facts a patient can check: the clinicians' registration, how consent and identity are handled, where records are kept, how to complain and which company stands behind the service. The question is routine, so put the answer on a page you control.
How should a consultation fee be stated?
By service line: what the fee covers, what is charged separately such as medicine and delivery, and the date. People ask about the telehealth fee, so it is a common question. Show plan and corporate rates on separate pages, so the public price is never confused with a negotiated one.
How should therapy pages handle price and free options?
Be honest about what a paid session offers beyond free services, without putting those services down. People pair online therapy with free and affordable. List session length, the provider type and any sliding scale, and link public support lines. A calm price page earns more trust than a discount.
How it works
Typical agency approach versus Enterprise SEO done properly
Typical: Lead with speed: a doctor in minutes and a certificate in your inbox.
Done properly: Lead with scope: who the doctor is, what a teleconsultation can assess, what needs a visit and what the platform will not issue. Speed claims follow only where staffing records support them.
Typical: A stock photo of a smiling doctor and a count of consultations.
Done properly: Real clinicians with their registration, role and consulting days, so the legit and review searches land on facts you control.
Typical: Pharmacy delivery treated as a bonus box at the end of the journey.
Done properly: Prescription and delivery get their own pages, written with the partner, so patients know the next step before they book. The shelf side, run by pharmacy delivery partners, has its own rules.
Audit. I list every page, ad and store listing with the promises each makes, and check who ranks for online doctor, medical certificate, prescription, therapy and trust searches in both languages.
Govern. Your medical director and a lead clinician for each service line sign the boundary map. We decide which pages carry a block on what cannot be done online.
Build. I build the clinician profile template, the trust pages and the first service pages for general consultation and prescription.
Scale. I add mental health, dietitian and screening lines, then insurer and corporate plan pages and Malay versions.
Report. A monthly report shows installs, sign-ups and first consultations from search by service line, visits to the trust pages, and pages changed after a rule change.
How should mental health pages be handled?
Name the provider type: clinical psychologist, counsellor or doctor. Show registration where the profession has one, and the route to emergency help. People compare free options, reddit threads and psychotherapy, so state what a session is and when someone needs urgent care.
What should a platform say about insurance?
Which plans cover which service lines, and that the doctor, not the insurer, decides clinical care. People ask whether online doctors take insurance. Cover limits are set by insurers offering online doctor cover and move, so link to them for the detail and date your own list of accepted plans.

In the consultation results on 22 October 2026, six of nine were one platform's own pages and three were press on risk and regulation. No second platform, clinic group or hospital appeared, and people pair platform names with legit and review.
What should a prescription page say about a teleconsultation?
That the doctor applies the same judgement as in a visit, may decline to prescribe, and cannot supply some controlled items, per an industry summary of the Council's guideline. Explain e-prescription, the pharmacy partner and delivery. Tests ordered afterwards go to sample collection laboratories. Never imply a prescription is guaranteed.
Will this survive review?
The approval chain, the regulator and what SEO will not promise
Who signs off: Medical director, for clinical scope and wording then Lead clinician for each service line then Product and legal teams, for consent and identity steps then Data protection officer, for health records then Group marketing.
Regulators that touch your claims: Malaysian Medical Council, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council.
Constraints on what you can publish
The Council's 2020 advisory said its role is to regulate physicians, not technology, and that technology does not change ethical and legal requirements. The physician's identity, place of practice and registration must be made known to the patient, and the patient's identity confirmed at each consultation. An industry article says a Guideline on Telemedicine, endorsed in January 2024, replaced the advisory. I have not read its text.
The Council decided in 2025 that medical certificates may not be issued solely after a teleconsultation. The Malaysian Medical Association backed the decision on 18 November 2025, and the Association of Digital Health Malaysia asked on 21 November for a guideline instead of a blanket ban.
The Medical Association's president warned of clinical decisions being dictated by non-medical administrators, insurers and third-party platforms, and said doctors cannot escape their professional obligations. A page should never suggest that the platform, not the doctor, makes the clinical call.
Dietitians, clinical psychologists and speech-language therapists are allied health professions under the Allied Health Professions Bill 2015. Its clause 32 bars false claims on any website and misleading representations that induce a purchase.
MOH says advertisements for health services offered by private clinics need prior approval from the Medicine Advertisements Board. Ask the Board whether your clinic entity falls under it before the first service page goes live.
What SEO will not promise
A position for any service, doctor or brand name
A number of installs, sign-ups or consultations
A reading of the Council's guideline on your behalf. I plan the pages around what is published and flag what is unclear. The Council, the Ministry and your medical director decide what a teleconsultation may offer
This is SEO governance, not legal advice. Your compliance and legal teams decide what you may claim.
Original analysis
The Council's position has two layers. The 2020 advisory made the physician's identity and registration known to the patient and kept the duty with the physician, not the technology. A 2025 decision barred medical certificates issued solely after a teleconsultation. A page that promises a certificate, or implies the platform decides clinically, contradicts both.
Which rules should a telehealth platform's pages follow?
The Council's guidance for doctors, the allied health rules for therapists and dietitians, and the Ministry's advertisement approval where a clinic entity is involved. People also search the Telemedicine Act 1997. Check its status with the Ministry before citing it, and cite the Council's guideline instead.
What should a platform say about medical certificates after the Council's decision?
State plainly that a certificate cannot be issued solely after a teleconsultation, and when an in-person visit is needed. People still search to buy and get a certificate online. An information page answers them without a promise, and keeps your doctors clear of disciplinary risk.

Klinik Dr Rose: Web Revamp, SEO & Google Ads,...
~85
Monthly enquiries from search ads at a clinic that ran none before
Why it applies: A small practice in Klang, so it teaches method, not platform scale. Its pages explain what the clinic treats, and assistants have named it. A telehealth platform wins trust searches the same way, with plain facts a patient can check.
Self-built tools all ranking first on Google for their own name
Why it applies: Control of a brand search came from consistent facts across the page, the listing and the markup. Searches like doctor on call legit are brand searches, and the answer should be yours.
Speed target set for users who needed an official record at once
Why it applies: Professionals would not wait for a portal. A person with a symptom at night wants your consultation page to open, explain the limits and let them book without delay.
CHCaregiving.my: Building Malaysia's Caregiving...
2,400+
Organic sessions a month reached by a directory that began with none
Why it applies: The directory covers counselling and mental health beside physiotherapy and nursing, sorted by service. The service lines on a telehealth site are sorted the same way, each with its own rules.
Cost per acquisition fell as paid and organic shared one keyword list
Why it applies: Paid search data decided which organic pages got written. A platform buying consultation and prescription terms can use its ad data to rank service pages by what converts.
Growth in enquiries once Malay-language topic groups ranked on page one
Why it applies: Malay and English searches behave like separate markets. Online doctor and ubat searches run in Malay, and a platform with English pages only misses them.
On its listings and app stores, where they are held and patients can read them. Quoting a patient in promotion falls under the Council's guidance and the Bill's ban on false claims for allied health services, so ask before you do it. Never edit or select reviews to beat the average.
How should a platform show its dietitians' credentials?
Show name, registration number and role, plus qualifications as the registering body lists them. Dietitians are in the allied health Schedule, so false or misleading claims on a website are an offence. A checked profile is worth more than a job title.

A baseline before any work. The keywords, their current positions and their search demand are written down at the start, so there is a baseline to argue with later.
Reporting against that same baseline. Not a fresh set of keywords chosen after the fact because they happened to improve.

One named expert.Dr. Faiz Azizan does the work. Not a rotating pool of account managers.
If a page promises a medical certificate after a teleconsultation, or suggests the platform makes the clinical decision, I withdraw it at once and show it to your medical director in the next review.
I will not promise you position one. No honest SEO provider can, because Google decides rankings. What I commit to is the process above, written down before work starts.
Is this for you
Who this is for, and who it is not for
This is for you if
You run a telehealth or digital health platform with doctors, therapists or dietitians delivering services in Malaysia
Your medical director and a lead clinician for each service line will sign the boundary map
You can feed registration details and consulting days into a record the website reads
This is not for you if
You want certificates, instant diagnosis or prescription speed as headline promises
You are an app with no clinicians, only a directory of other providers
Growth targets override your medical director's sign-off on page wording
Is it worth separating telehealth and telemedicine pages?
Not as two page sets. People ask whether telehealth is the same as telemedicine, and both words are in use. Pick one primary term, define the other in the first paragraph and use it in headings where the searches show it. Splitting them would create near-duplicate pages.
Which questions should a telehealth company ask before choosing an SEO partner?
Ask how they would handle medical certificate searches after the Council's decision, and who approves clinical text. Be wary of anyone proposing pages that sell certificates or promise instant diagnosis, since that shows they do not know the Council's position. I start with the service boundary map.
Where does enterprise SEO fit beside growth marketing on a telehealth platform?
Growth marketing buys installs and tests offers. I rebuild the pages that earn trust and demand: clinician profiles, the boundary map and the trust pages. Your growth team keeps the funnel and the ad budgets and gets templates that stay inside the rules.

Questions this sector asks
Frequently asked questions
What decides the quote?
The number of service lines, clinicians and languages, and how big your existing page set is. I audit first and quote from what the audit finds.
Can we still rank for medical certificate searches?
As an information page, yes: what the Council decided, what a teleconsultation can and cannot document, and when to visit in person. A page that sells certificates cannot keep a promise the decision removed.
Our platform partners with an insurer. Does that change the pages?
It adds a partner page and a boundary: insurers do not decide clinical care. The Medical Association's president warned about insurers directing decisions, so the page says who decides and where the insurer's role stops.
Do mental health services need different handling?
Yes. Clinical psychologists are allied health professionals under the Bill's Second Schedule, while counselling and doctor-led care follow other rules. The page names the provider type, the route to emergency help and who to contact when a session is not enough.
We are in the app stores as well as on the web. Is that in scope?
The listing text is audited with the pages, because it makes the same promises. App store ranking is a separate discipline, but the claims on it must match the website.
