Enterprise SEO that brings developers and tender invitations to your contractor website, using only the grades and certificates you hold

I run enterprise SEO for main contractors and construction groups in Malaysia: project pages, capability pages and partner enquiries, built from a record of your CIDB registration so the site never claims more than you hold.

Where developers lose track of you

Job boards and directories describe you before your own site does

I searched for G7 main contractors in Malaysia on 22 October 2026. Ten results came back and none was a contractor's own website: job boards, directories, a green building listing and a student thesis. When a developer types your name, someone else's summary is what they read.

Most of the market is private, and private buyers search first

Malaysian construction work reached RM178.6 billion in 2025, up 12.5%. The private sector made up 63.2% of fourth quarter value and the public sector 36.8%. Public work is awarded through procurement portals, so search is how you reach the larger private share.

A lapsed registration is an offence, so a stale claim is a liability

Section 25 of Act 520 requires every contractor, local or foreign, to register with CIDB before doing construction work. Court fines run from RM10,000 to RM100,000. A website showing a grade your certificate no longer shows is a liability, not a credential.

Why don't contractors rank for main contractor searches?

Because nobody explains the term in plain words. The results I saw on 22 October 2026 were research papers, a law guide and project news. A short page that says what a main contractor does, with your own record in it, can take that place.

Who searches for kontraktor g7?

Buyers, small contractors looking for partners and people asking what G7 means. They add states such as Kelantan, Kedah, Sabah and Selangor. One Malay page that defines the grade as CIDB does, with no limit on project value, and links to your register, answers all three.

How should you answer cost per square foot searches?

Explain what drives the figure: building type, structure, specification, location and date. People search factory, warehouse, house and bungalow cost this way. Offer a briefing instead of a single number, because a number on a page gets quoted back long after it has aged.

What should a contractor say about rising material prices?

How price movement is handled in your contracts: fixed price, fluctuation clauses and who carries which risk. Cash flow also matters to developers, so add a page on guarantees and credit lines, naming banks offering contractor guarantees as the usual source. Buyers read it to judge your capacity.

How it works

Typical agency approach versus Enterprise SEO done properly

Typical: A PDF company profile and a gallery of finished buildings.
Done properly: A page for each project with client, scope, value band, dates and role, so a developer can match your record to their brief and a search engine can read it.
Typical: The grade shown as a badge in the footer.
Done properly: The grade read from your credential register, shown with the certificate, specialisations and expiry, so the page cannot outlive the registration.
Typical: Tender, partner and supplier enquiries sent to one contact form.
Done properly: Separate pages for developers, agencies, joint-venture partners and subcontractors, each saying what you need before you can consider them.
  1. Audit. I list your projects, certificates and capability pages and check every claim against your current registration.
  2. Govern. Your directors decide what may be claimed and which clients must clear a project. One person signs the credential register each quarter.
  3. Build. I build the register, the project template and capability pages for the building types you win most.
  4. Scale. I add partner, tender and supplier pages, then pages for each state and town where you operate, in English and Malay.
  5. Report. You get a monthly report on enquiries, tender invitations and partner approaches from search, plus registrations close to expiry.

What should a design and build page say?

Who designs, who builds and who carries the risk between them. In design and build the contractor is responsible for both. Name your design team and consultants, and say what cover from insurers of construction works applies. Developers choosing a route read this before your project list.

Should factories and warehouses each get a page?

Yes, one for every building type you have delivered. Show completed projects of that type with scope and dates, the standards you built to and the approvals you handled. If your scope overlaps with oil and gas engineering firms on onshore sites, link the two capability pages.

Original analysis

I checked a G7 main contractor search on 22 October 2026. Of ten results, not one was a contractor's own website; job boards, directories and a thesis carried the descriptions. A developer who types your name reads someone else's summary.

How does a contractor rank for a trade and a town?

Write a page for each trade and region you really cover, such as piling in Johor or electrical works in Penang, drawn from your project record. Claim only the registrations you hold for that work, and name the company that holds them.

Will this survive review?

The approval chain, the regulator and what SEO will not promise

Who signs off: Managing director, for claims about capability and track record then Tender manager, for project facts, values and dates then Project directors, for scope and role on each project then The client, for any project, value or photograph you name then Legal and compliance.

Regulators that touch your claims: Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia.

Constraints on what you can publish

  • Section 25 of the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia Act 1994 (Act 520) requires all contractors, local or foreign, to register with CIDB before doing construction work. CIDB has warned of court fines from 10,000 to 100,000 ringgit and told contractors to confirm their certificate is valid.
  • CIDB sets grades G1 to G7 by the largest project a contractor may bid, from 200,000 ringgit for G1 to no limit for G7. A page may state a grade only with the certificate and expiry that support it.
  • CIDB lists three registrations: PPK for general construction work, SPKK for government work and STB for Bumiputera-status work. Anything a page says about government work or Bumiputera status should come from the matching certificate.
  • Naming a client, a project value or a photograph usually depends on the contract. I found no rule on it, so each clearance is obtained in writing.
  • In Malaysian practice traditional procurement is the most common method, and in design and build the contractor is responsible for both design and construction. A design and build page should say who carries the design risk.

What SEO will not promise

  • A position for any contractor, grade or project name
  • A number of tender invitations, awards or contract value won
  • An appointment. Developers and tender boards decide who wins work. I build the pages and the register, and your directors decide what may be claimed about a project

This is SEO governance, not legal advice. Your compliance and legal teams decide what you may claim.

Original analysis

Registration decides what a page may say. CIDB grades run from G1 to G7 by the largest project a contractor may bid, and three certificates cover general, government and Bumiputera-status work. Section 25 of Act 520 requires registration before any construction work, with court fines of 10,000 to 100,000 ringgit.

Should you invite buyers to check your CIDB registration?

Yes. People do check CIDB grade and registration number, so state yours with its expiry date and link to CIDB. A visible, checkable certificate removes doubt. A stale one risks the court fines that section 25 of Act 520 allows.

Can a contractor website win government tenders?

No. Public work is awarded through procurement portals against eligibility certificates, and the results people see for government tender are portals. Use your website for private buyers and partners, and keep a factual page where a procurer can verify your registration and record.

Can a contractor compete for top and biggest searches?

Not by saying so. The results are lists compiled by others. Give buyers what a list cannot: projects by building type with dates and values cleared by clients, your grade and expiry, your safety and quality records. Let others rank you.

How should you show quality assessment scores?

Per project, with the assessing body and the date, and only for projects that were assessed. People search for QLASSIC and for scores. Do not turn one score into a claim about the whole company, and where a project was not assessed, say so.

Risk reversal

What I commit to instead of a ranking promise

A baseline before any work. The keywords, their current positions and their search demand are written down at the start, so there is a baseline to argue with later.
Reporting against that same baseline. Not a fresh set of keywords chosen after the fact because they happened to improve.
The documents are yours. Audits and playbooks are written to be handed to your in-house team or another agency. Nothing is locked to me.
One named expert. Dr. Faiz Azizan does the work. Not a rotating pool of account managers.

If a page states a grade, a government qualification or a client name without a matching certificate or written clearance, I take it down at once and fix the credential register before it goes back up.

I will not promise you position one. No honest SEO provider can, because Google decides rankings. What I commit to is the process above, written down before work starts.

Is this for you

Who this is for, and who it is not for

This is for you if
  • You are a registered main contractor or a construction group, and your directors will sign the credential register
  • Your project facts sit in files a team can read, and clients will clear names and figures in writing
  • You want enquiries from developers, partners and suppliers, not only access to tender portals
This is not for you if
  • You want pages that claim a grade or qualification your certificate does not show
  • You expect search to win public tenders that are decided through a procurement portal
  • You run a small renovation firm that only needs a map listing

How should a contractor show its CIDB registration?

As a short summary read from your register: company, grade, specialisations and expiry, with a link to CIDB so the buyer can verify it. People search for registered contractor lists, so showing it yourself saves them the trip and stops an old badge staying up.

What should a contractor ask an SEO consultant before hiring?

Ask what they will do with your grade, your project photographs and your client names. If they add a badge for every grade, or publish projects first and ask clients later, they have not understood how registration limits what you can claim. I start with the register and a clearance step.

What does enterprise SEO do that a construction marketing agency does not?

A marketing agency makes brochures, events and campaigns. I build what search reads: the register, project pages and capability pages. Your business development team keeps the relationships and the tender calendar, and gets pages that stay correct when certificates renew and projects finish.

Questions this sector asks

Frequently asked questions

What decides the quote?

The number of companies and registrations, projects to publish, languages and regions. I count them first, then quote against the count.

Can search help us win government projects?

Not directly. Public work is awarded through procurement portals against eligibility certificates. Search brings private buyers and partners, and lets a procurer find your record.

Do we have to remove project photographs?

Only where no written clearance exists. Projects with clearance stay and get proper pages. The rest come down until the client agrees, which usually takes one email.

We hold G7 through one company and trade through another. How is that shown?

Each registered company is listed separately, with its certificate and expiry. Project pages name the company that did the work, and the two are never merged.

Do subcontractors and suppliers matter for search?

Yes. They search for the main contractor too, to register as vendors. A supplier page that says how to register and who answers keeps your contact form clear for buyers.
